When to Use and when to Not Use Escrow

Escrow is a simple, yet powerful payment system which is used at almost all freelance sites. Using Escrow, both buyers and service providers can be safe from being scammed.

All service providers can use Escrow?

Yes, everyone can use Escrow system. Freelance site asks everyone to use Escrow. Using Escrow system costs nothing.

All service providers SHOULD use Escrow system?

If you are an old member then using Escrow is a must thing to do. Users with good ratings should always use Escrow or maybe, they should only work if the buyer is willing to put the money in Escrow.

High rated service providers should mention in the PM that they will work only if full or partial payment is put in Escrow.

On the other hand, new service providers [new comers who have no ratings] cannot use [because buyers do not trust them] Escrow for most of the jobs.

This is because buyers do not trust new comers and that is why, they are not willing to block their money. Many New Comers fail to complete the given job.

If a new comer fails to complete the given task, then if buyer has put the money in Escrow, then he will have to wait for few days before funds from Escrow are released.

So new comers have to work without Escrow. Just ask the buyer if he is ok to use Escrow or not. If the buyer is not willing to use Escrow, then just tell him that you will work without Escrow.

Sometimes, you have to take risks.

But Remember: In order to avoid Scam, you should only work for buyers who have High Ratings. This is when you are doing work without using Escrow.

However, if a buyer is ok to use Escrow, then you can work for anyone: don’t worry about how many ratings buyer have.
