Due to an upgrade of my PC, I was not able to write [when I first saw] about the GAF server down time on the 1st of July, 2009. Anyway, I do have the screen shoot of the server down error that I got when I tried to visit GAF.
It looks like GAF had some major network upgrade on Wednesday, 1st of July, 2009.
I tried to access my GAF account at about 12:30 am [Pakistan Time]. I got an error that said something like: “GAF is undergoing a major network upgrade”. The error also stated that the site will come back online at 12:00 am EDT.
Anyway, I revisited GAF after few hours and everything was working as normal. However, I have not seen any noticeable changes being made at GAF after this upgrade. May be I have not noticed the changes: I will take another look at GAF to see if there were any changes made in this upgrade.
This is also possible that GAF made changes to only their internal data base or site coding etc. If that is the case, then normal users will not see any changes at GAF.
GAF is a freelance site which is far better than few other freelancing sites where there are lot more down times. GAF do not show much down time errors and even when there is any upgrade or anything like that: that downtime is not much and GAF comes online very fast.

August 20, 2009 1:55 amLat couple of days I see this message after every 30 – 45 mins
“An error has occurred
Server is currently under high load – please hit ‘reload’ on your browser in a minute to try again”
I hope the new management of GAF is aware of these errors
