I have been referring people to GAF for quite a long time. I personally have found GAF’s referral program to be very attractive. GAF used to pay 100% commissions to their referral program participants. Just recently, GAF have changed their commission rate from 100% to 90%.
With this change, the GAF referral program participants will now earn 10% less money compared to what they used to earn few weeks back. This change is however not much of a concern as GAF is the only freelance site where 100% commission rate was offered [in the past] for their affiliate program participants. No other freelance site offers such rates. In fact, freelance sites normally give only 10% commission to their referral program participants.
So you can see that GAF is giving a huge percentage [90%] of the money that they earn from the people that we refer. We should be thankful to GAF for giving such an impressive amount of money to their affiliate partners.
Anyway, with the change of affiliate program commission rate at GAF: there was also another noticeable change.
In order to see the affiliate program details, one needs to open the “Affiliate Activity” page which can be found in the “My Account” menu. On this page, one can see the number of people that he/she has referred to GAF. We can also see the total amount of money that we have earned at GAF via their affiliate program.
On this page: there used to be a menu with few links. These links included: Affiliate Program Detail Page Link, RSS Channels Page Link, User Statistics Page Link, Earnings Statistics Page Link and there was a link to “The Best Affiliates” Page.
On “The Best Affiliates” Page: all users, registered or not registered, could see a list of GAF referral program participants who have referred the most users to GAF in the current month.
There is also a section called “The Best Affiliate Websites” on “The Best Affiliates” Page. Here 10 random links to different sites is shown in the list. These links are supposed to be pointing to sites or pages where GAF affiliate program is promoted. Unfortunately, I do have seen people who tried to spam this page via submitting irrelevant pages/sites.
I personally used to check/open “The Best Affiliates” Page everyday just to see my affiliate progress in that month. But I always wanted this page to just vanish as it created some problems too. For example: I had submitted my site in “The Best Affiliate Websites” list and I was in the top referring users list. So many spammers came to my site from this page and copied all my content in their own sites.
I had requested GAF to remove my sites link from this page, which GAF support did. But even after that, spammers used this page to see the top referring users. They wanted to get on the top of the list via copying top referring user’s site’s content or may be via some other way.
Anyway: when GAF changed the commission rate from 100% to 90%, GAF also made a change to “Affiliate Activity” Page. This change was that GAF removed the above mentioned menu from this page. However, all the page’s links [except for “The Best Affiliates” Page] are still prevent on “Affiliate Activity” page but the menu is gone.
“The Best Affiliates” Page is no longer available at GAF. The link to this page has been completely removed from the site. In case you know/remember the URL to “The Best Affiliates” Page, then you may visit it via entering the URL directly in the browser but there is not much to see there. Only a list of some sites is shown and I am pretty much sure that GAF will remove/delete this page completely from their site anytime soon.
