In the last post, I have mentioned that a doctor asked me about the online job that I will recommend for him. My answer was: “Copywriting”.
That is: if a professional doctor wants to earn money online then copywriting is a great option.
But this suggestion was based on the fact that a doctor may want to earn some extra money in the spare time that he has.
I wonder: what if a doctor thinks about quitting his job to make a living via doing online jobs at freelance sites?
Is it really possible that a professional doctor will quit his professional work and join freelance sites?
Can he prefer online jobs over his professional work?
And most importantly, can he earn any good money online when compared with the money that he can earn via doing his professional work?
One might think that the answers to these questions are simple: but this isn’t correct. The answers are little complicated.
Let’s start with professional doctors who live in first world countries like USA, UK etc: doctors who are legal residents of these countries.
Will they prefer to do online jobs instead of doing their professional work?
Well I guess the answer is a Big No.
Regardless of the country where one live: a lot of effort is needed to become a professional doctor. In Pakistan, one needs to spend 7 or so years, just to complete the MBBS degree and the required house-job.
In first world countries, the pay back for doctors for their long efforts [study + practical work] is very good.
Professional doctors earn really good money in these countries. In fact their job is considered as one of the best/highest paying job that one can get anywhere in the world. So for them, entering the online world of doing jobs at freelance sites to earn a living is not a suitable option.
To earn good money at freelance sites, one needs to work very hard. Also, in order to earn anything near to what professional doctors earn, a person needs some special skills: like being an expert in some programming language or being an SEO expert etc.
To become such expert, one needs to learn and practice for years. So why will a professional doctor spend lot of time to learn these things when he already have spent years in earning the doctor’s degree?
So does it mean that professional doctors from all over the world will do the same? That is, they will not leave their professional work to start making money online?
Will continue in the next post…
