Something you should know about GAF Logo Competition

There is something that you should know about GAF Logo Competition if you are participating. Few days back, GAF decided to extend the deadline for this competition right?

Can you guess why this deadline was extended?

Let me give you a hint:

Recently, GAF secured a new domain: Freelancer(dot)com.

GAF has decided to move their site to this new domain. GAF will soon be known as Freelancer(dot)com instead of Getafreelancer(dot)com.

And the time when GAF started the logo competition, they has not bought this new domain.

So, can you guess now?

When this competition started, GAF wanted a new Logo for their site which was/and-is-still called GAF. The logo was to show the name GetAFreelancer: but as the site will now be known as Freelancer, the logo also needs to show this new name and not the old name [which is GAF].

Now, if you are participating in this competition then make sure that your logo has this new name and not the old one. If you create the logo with the old name in it, then you will simply be wasting your time and you cannot expect to win this competition.

Remember: GAF is no longer Getafreelancer(dot)com: in just few days, this site will be known as: Freelancer(dot)com.

So the logo that we need to make, in order to win the competition, will have this new name in it and not the old one.

    is getAFreelancer.com competition a scam ?

    please read

    why i am saying this?

many people entered following the new guidelines including me

I really did not want to participate because of their terms where they want to own the logos you submit even if they don’t use it !

But because it was $15000 i said what’s the heck , i’ll give it a try

However, only 20 logos have been shown to voters !

As per guidelines: everyone has a chance just submit the logo(s) and wait for people choice

but only 20 out of hundreds !

and more suspicious that the one logo with most votes so far is by a new registrant at Freelancer.com

    FrancisJM’s Profile registered on the:
    20th Oct 2009!

I feel that it’s all a scam a fake competition and the guy is from the inside

so they end up not paying anything to anyone

how can we be sure that even his logo is not someone else’s ?

look at this too (it doesn;t clearly say you are getting monetary (money) compensation :

All logo designs submitted ………………………. will remain the property of GetAFreelancer and will not be returned to ………………
GetAFreelancer will not be liable in any manner, for entries lost, delayed or damaged.
Entries …………………………………….. disqualified from the contest.
For your questions or inquiries, email:
    contest @ getafreelancer.com

they don;t even bother to replay to inquiries to the email above ???

We spend hours and hours to give them great logos but they don’t even care to replay !!!

  2. “John Reese”, sorry to hear that your submitted logo was not listed in the top 20 and that you and your team put in good effort and time to create logos for GAF.

I was surprised to see most of the top 10 participants in this competition being all new users.

I also wrote a post about it here:

    http://www.a1newspapers.com/2009/11/26/gaf-announce-top-10-finalists/

But do I think that this competition is a Scam?

GAF is a big company/freelance-site: I personally think that they will not start a scam competition. However, this is just my personal opinion.

In the post I mentioned above: I wrote about possible reason(s) why most of top 10 participants are either new users or have zero ratings.
