Say Goodbye to GAF’s Old Rating System

Very soon, GAF will introduce a new ratings system. GAF has matured a lot in the past few months but one of the areas where it has not so far worked on, is the rating/feedback system.

At other freelance sites, the rating system is little complicated but till now, GAF has a very simple and straight forward rating system.

Currently, all our rating scores are added up then the sum is divided by the number of ratings we have. The result is the average rating of that user.

This will no longer be the case as GAF is going to implement some new changes. In the new rating system, the calculation of overall rating calculation will also consider the amount of money which a person has earned for each project.

For example: let’s say that you have completed a project worth $30 and got a rating of 8 out of 10 for it. Then you complete another project which is worth $1000 and get a 10 out of 10 rating for it.

Currently, GAF rating system simply add the two ratings: 8 + 10 = 18

And then will divide with 2: 18/2 = 9

So 9 is your rating.

But in the new rating system, the project where you got a 10 out of 10 rating: this rating will worth more than the other project where you got a 8 out of 10 rating. This is because the project, where you got 10 out of 10 rating, has a bigger budget than the other project.

At the moment, we do not know how GAF will weigh ratings for low budget projects vs high budget projects. We will have to wait for some time to see this new rating system fully functional at GAF.
