In the very beginning, FL used to allow everybody to open jobs for free.
There was no fee of any kind for opening projects but later on, because of spammer problems, FL decided to ask buyers to pay a refundable fee of $5 whenever they wish to open a job listing.
Then Couple of months back, FL added a new feature for the buyers. This feature was called Opening Trial Projects: buyers were given an option to open projects without paying the refundable fee.
The reason for introducing such feature is quite simple: FL and other freelance sites know that lot of New Buyers do not like to pay any money to open a job. Once a buyer see his work completed, then he is quite comfortable in paying the money.
So in order to increase the number of posted jobs in the freelance market, Trial Projects were introduced.
Buyers can post a trial job without paying the refundable fee: but only limited number of people can use this feature. I will explain further in one of the next posts.
