First thing to know is that, both programmers and buyers are able to become certified members at SL. For buyers, it cost less money.
Programmers:
There is a onetime fee of $10 that every programmer, whose application is approved, will pay. Then the monthly charges for maintaining this membership are $25/month.
$10 is the research fees that SL charges.
Buyers:
For buyers, there is no research fee. There is a flat monthly fee: $10.
SL charges these fees if the application of programmer or the buyer gets approved. If an application is rejected later in the process, then the fee will be refunded.
If a person fails to pay the monthly fee, then the certified membership will be no longer be valid.
