At every freelance site, service providers are subject to pay a small fee for every job they complete.
Freelance sites do not take this fee in advance: when the buyer transfers the money to the service provider’s account, freelance site will then take the fee.
I have worked at many different freelance sites and I personally have found the commission rate of SL to be the least.
Currently, SL is charging 5% commission fee or $5:
Let me explain with the help of an example:
Assume that I won a job worth $100. I complete the job successfully and buyer pays me the money. How much commission fee will SL take?
I will get $95 in my account instead of $100: as $5 [5% of $100] is SL share of the money.
Now assume that I won a project worth $50: again I complete the work and I get paid too. How much money will I get this time?
5% of 50 is $2.5: so will SL charge $2.5?
Actually No: The minimum fee that SL takes is $5. For projects where the total budget is less than or equal to $100, SL will charge $5.
The commission rate for buyers is simple: SL charges a flat fee to buyers. This fee is equal to $5.
