Solution for: How to Get Out of the Vehicle (Mako) in Mass Effect?

SHORT ANSWER: Use the G Key on the Keyboard

Man, I wasted so much time to find the solution for getting out of the vehicle, Mako, in Mass Effect.

Mass Effect is one of the best PC games I ever played.

Yeah, GTA is the other all time best game and there are few more. Mass Effect is simply brilliant peace of work. I am so happy to have found this game.

But when I went to the planet “Sharjila” and drove the vehicle Mako around the planet, I soon discovered that I cannot move players out of Mako.

The first key I tried to get out of Mako was the “Interact” Key which I always choose to be the Left Control.

I pressed it many times but the players never got out.

Then I thought may be there will be some special key for this: so I went to the control settings and looked for any such key but found nothing. Then I tried few more keys to see if any key would do the job but nothing happened.

I then thought may be the game tutorial will have the required info. So I pressed the escape key then Codex > Secondary > Player Tutorial > Vehicle Movement: here I found this statement:

“Press [Left Control] Key to exit and enter the Mako”.

Where Left control key is assigned to “Interact”.

Some thing isn’t right: like I said, the first key that I tried was the left control key: then where lies the problem?

I thought may be I have to park the vehicle in some specific area in the planet. So then I wasted so much time in the hope to find any specific place for parking Mako in order to get out of it.

After some time, I realized that there was no such thing as parking Mako in any specific place. Then I went back to the big ship to see if I have to wear some kind of special armor or something that will enable us to walk on other planets but I found nothing just wasted some more time.

In the end I started to search for a solution on the internet and finally got the answer which actually was very simple.

You have to press the Draw/Holster Weapon Key to enter and exit Mako.

Now how simple was that?

I can’t believe I wasted so much time and never tried the “G” key which is by default assigned to Draw/Holster Weapon.

    Funny, everyone hated the mako sequences, I loved them.Especially compared to scanning ef**ng planets. I actually never had a problemm with figuring out how to get out. Guess I got lucky.

    I am playing ME1 now and I had the same problem… after I found the answer here I also found out that it tells you in the codex how to exit the Mako. Never bothered to read it.

    thx dude, im playing right now and wasted hours on fr**king planets, not being able to leave the vehicle. You saved me a lot of hours now:)

    I don’t recall even seeing a tutorial for the Mako, I was just lumped into it to beetle around not knowing anything. Thanks for this post as it’s the only one I could find that explains it.

    Now to try and find out what the radar key is …

    thx for the advice, though you could have just said it in the beginning so we don’t have to read through how much you like the game and what you tried to get out and bla bla bla. I mean, come on. Wouldn’t a “It’s the draw/holster weapon key” suffice?

    Please check which key is assigned to “Draw/Holster Weapon”. By default, you have to press the “G” Key.

    Also, you need to to be on a flat surface in order to get about of mako.

      The game surely has some issues, but it is worth searching the internet to solve them, like the galaxy map fix and this. GG!
