Scientists of France were working on a Mega project where they can hit protons with almost the speed of light. For such experiment, lots of complicated things were required.
The total budget reached to over five Billion US Dollars: scientists have created a huge machine where they can now hit protons and perform different types of tests.
On 10th of September, 2008: French scientists finally tested the machine and it worked very well. The machine consists of a circular tunnel around French and Swiss border. The total length of this tunnel is about 27 kilometers.
In this tunnel is a huge tube that is used as a medium in which protons will travel. Giant magnets are attached to these tubes and Helium is used to cool down these magnets.
Scientists had been working on this project for about 13 years. There are many delays in the first test which finally was executed on 10th of September, 2008. In few days time, there are many follow up experiments to come.
Some people think that this “Big Bang” experiment can result in some disaster. Some say a Black hole will be created if this experiment is performed. After the initial test, no Black Hole or any other disaster took place : )
