The total cost of obtaining the Oxford Brookes university’s B.Sc (Hons) degree in Applied Accounting is just £60. this is the fee of submitting your research project to the university and is all you need to spend to get your bachelors degree.

Thanks to the partnership between ACCA and Oxford Brookes university which enabled ACCA students to get access to quality education at affordable costs.

I know £60 is nothing for a UK student to get a bachelors degree but even for international students this cost is well under their affordability.

ACCA in partnership Oxford Brookes University

The university has provided comprehensive guidelines of how to complete the research project so the students can obtain the degree from Oxford Brookes university while they are still studying for the ACCA qualification.

Oxford Brookes university is a world renowned university and its qualification is well respected in the business world so by obtaining the B.Sc in Accounting from Oxford Brookes you are adding value to your CV. Although this degree has a value for all ACCA students, it gives the international students an opportunity to get a UK degree while sitting in their home country.

Every year hundreds of thousands of students apply in various UK universities and spend thousands of pounds to cover their university fee and living costs. Not all of the interested candidates get the permission to enter the UK as the entry requirements in the UK are becoming tougher and the number of students getting the visa is on a decline.

This partnership between ACCA and Oxford Brookes university is an initiative to break the boundaries and serve all the deserving students no matter where they are situated in the world.

What about the total cost of obtaining this degree from Oxford Brookes University? You will be amazed to know…

(continued in Why ACCA? (part 3))

If you wish to study for a bachelors degree in a UK university the average fee of the degree is £12,000 and this amount will only cover your course fee. If you are an international student, you should expect the same level of cost as your living costs.

This means that for obtaining a bachelors degree from a UK university would cost you around £20,000-25,000.

Compare the fees charged by ACCA to sit for its exams and you will find that ACCA is charging you a very reasonable fee. The reason is that ACCA has its students and members worldwide while it manages its operations from UK which helps it to minimize its operating expenses.

The exams are conducted worldwide but the exam papers are checked by a team of examiners in the UK so there is no discrimination as same team checks the papers so it doesn’t matter if you sit for exams in the UK or anywhere else in the world.

is acca oart 2 equivalent a degree?? without the oxford brokes what is it recognition?

  2. ACCA has changed its module structure recently and now it has two levels, the Fundamental level and the Professional level. The number of exams though are the same. There are now 9 papers in the fundamental level and 5 in the core level so comparing it with the old structure the fundamental level is equivalent to part2 of the ACCA.

Now coming to your query, Oxford Brookes degree is in itself a recognition of ACCA’s level of competence in the field of accounting. So when you pass the fundamental level, Oxford Brookes award you with its BSc (Hons) degree in Applied accounting. Remember this degree will cost you more than £15,000 pounds if you wish to take it as a regular student.

When you pass your fundamental level you are awarded certificate of pass by ACCA and you have a value in market. When you apply for a job the employers take account of your qualification and job hunt becomes easier for you.

It also depends where in the world are you from. In the UK for instance most of ACCA students start a full time job after passing the first 4-5 papers and then take the rest of exams one or two at a time. ACCA students can easily get a good job and a student who has passed the fundamental level should expect to get a middle management job straightaway.

    Hope this helps!

I took this offer :D I’ve already applied at London School of Business and Finance.
I’m going to study the ACCA and get the BSc in Applied Accounting, I’ll also complete Islamic Finance,Financial Modelling (Intermediate), Risk and Financial Management, and get a work placement for better job prospectus. Then hopefully study Masters in International Business which adds to the qualifications and will provide me with 2 years worth of work experience that I can add to my ACCA and the previous work experience should pull it up to 3 years which would officially get me my ACCA qualification :D . So in a matter of 4-4.5 years I’ll be a fully qualified accountant. I’m going to work abroad, I’m still thinking about further study (PhD) just for my own achievement, and it can also make a lecturer :D Fingers crossed!

I do not think that anyone can apply for PSW after finishing the ACCA.

ACCA is a professional qualification which is not recognized for the purpose of PSW. There is a specific guidance available on UK government websites regarding this.

I am not sure about getting PSW after completing BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, if it is obtained through ACCA route. I am searching for this information on the internet and will probably email ACCA and Oxford Brookes university to have a clarification.

One thing is however clear, after clearing part 2, one can get 30 points for Tier 1 general scheme. The total points that are required to pass the Tier one assessment are 75 and applicant can score rest of the points based on other criteria.
