5 GB Download Packages:

256 kb/sec costs Rs. 499

512 kb/sec costs Rs. 599

768 kb/sec costs Rs. 699 [This Package is now converted/migrated into 1MB/sec package]

1024 kb/sec or 1 MB/sec costs Rs. 799 [Price of this package is now changed to Rs. 699]

10 GB Download Packages:

Tariff:

These are the charges for only the internet usage. In order to get Wateen wireless internet connection, you will have to pay a fee for the wireless device too. Also, you will have to choose a telephony package which costs a monthly line rent. [You do not have to pay monthly telephony charges for USB device]

There are three Two available Telephony packages that cost: Rs. 60, Rs, 90 and Rs. 150 and Rs. 270 per month.

A onetime subscription fee is also required to be paid.

There are two types of subscriptions mentioned in the brochure. One is marked as Rent and second one as Buy.

In the official Wateen brochure, it is mentioned that the actual price of Wateen wireless internet device is:

Indoor Device: Rs. 14,100

Outdoor Device: Rs. 18,900

Now I personally am not sure if the subscription fee which is mentioned below the Buy section actually means that we are paying to buy the Wateen’s wireless device or it is the initial payment which will follow by monthly installments. Anyway, most people will not be interested in buying Wateen WiMAX device as one can easily get it, on rent. Buying the device may not help in anyway: in fact some people say that it will be a loss, as sooner or later, new devices will come: and that our purchased device will, [most probably], needs to be changed.

RENT:

Subscription fee for 15 GB [Unlimited Download] internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 999 Rs. 1,000

Subscription fee for 10 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 1499 Rs. 1,000

Subscription fee for 5 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 2499 Rs. 1,500

Plus charges of Rs. 2000 [Currently, Security Deposit is Zero] are taken as security fee against Wateen device.

Buy:

Subscription fee for 15 GB [Unlimited Download] internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 3999 plus some Tax

Subscription fee for 10 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 4999 plus some Tax

Subscription fee for 5 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 5999 plus some Tax

For both the rent and the buy subscription another fee of Rs. 500 is taken as installation charges.

Note: The above mentioned charges are only valid until Wateen change them again. If and when Wateen made any changes in their prices: I will update these this page too. NOTE: Wateen have updated their prices and packages. I have made changes on this page too.

Now you can see that the 15 GB download package has been converted into a unlimited download package.

First of all: these new packages are available till 30th of June, 2009 [new packages seems to be now permanently available]. This is what I saw in the email that I got from Wateen. Most probably, Wateen will continue to give/offer these new packages after the deadline.

Secondly: the unlimited package may look very attractive but there is a catch.

In the email, I saw that Wateen will only allow a fair use of their unlimited internet download package. Wateen will not allow any abuse in this regard. This package has virtually unlimited download limit. Read more about this topic at the end of this article: Wateen Vs PTCL
