Following is a list of packages and the charges: for using Wateen Wireless Broadband Internet Connection:

5 GB Download Packages:

256 kb/sec costs Rs. 499

512 kb/sec costs Rs. 599

768 kb/sec costs Rs. 699 [This Package is now converted/migrated into 1MB/sec package]

1024 kb/sec or 1 MB/sec costs Rs. 799 [Price of this package is now changed to Rs. 699]

Maximum Download/Upload Allowed: 5GB

10 GB Download Packages:

256 kb/sec costs Rs. 899

512 kb/sec costs Rs. 999

768 kb/sec costs Rs. 1099 [This Package is now converted/migrated into 1MB/sec package]

1024 kb/sec or 1 MB/sec costs Rs. 1199 [Price of this package is now changed to Rs. 1099]

Maximum Download/Upload Allowed: 10GB

15 GB Download Packages: [Wateen Have Changed This Limit To Unlimited Download]

256 kb/sec costs Rs. 1299 [Price of this package is now changed to Rs. 1199]

512 kb/sec costs Rs. 1399 [Price of this package is now changed to Rs. 1299]

768 kb/sec costs Rs. 1499 [This Package is now converted/migrated into 1MB/sec package]

1024 kb/sec or 1 MB/sec costs Rs. 1599 [Price of this package is now changed to Rs. 1399]

Maximum Download/Upload Allowed: 15GB [Wateen Have Changed This Limit To Unlimited Download]

Tariff:

These are the charges for only the internet usage. In order to get Wateen wireless internet connection, you will have to pay a fee for the wireless device too. Also, you will have to choose a telephony package which costs a monthly line rent. [You do not have to pay monthly telephony charges for USB device]

There are three Two available Telephony packages that cost: Rs. 60, Rs, 90 and Rs. 150 and Rs. 270 per month.

A onetime subscription fee is also needed to be paid.

There are two types of subscriptions mentioned in the brochure. One is marked as Rent and second one have a Buy label.

In the official Wateen brochure, it is mentioned that the actual price of Wateen wireless internet device is:

Indoor Device: Rs. 14,100

Outdoor Device: Rs. 18,900

Now I personally am not sure if the subscription fee which is mentioned below the Buy section actually means that we are paying to buy the Wateen’s wireless device or it is the initial payment which will follow by monthly installments. Anyway, most people will not be interested in buying Wateen WiMAX device as one can easily get it on rent. Buying the device may not help in anyway: in fact some people say that it will be a loss, as sooner or later, new devices will come: and that our purchased device will, [most probably], needed to be changed.

RENT:

Subscription fee for 15 GB [Unlimited Download] internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 999 Rs. 1,000

Subscription fee for 10 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 1499 Rs. 1,000

Subscription fee for 5 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 2499 Rs. 1,500

Plus charges of Rs. 2000 [Currently, Security Deposit is Zero] are taken as security fee against Wateen device.

Buy:

Subscription fee for 15 GB [Unlimited Download] internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 3999 plus some Tax

Subscription fee for 10 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 4999 plus some Tax

Subscription fee for 5 GB internet package along with any telephony package is Rs. 5999 plus some Tax

For both the rent and the buy subscription another fee of Rs. 500 are taken as installation charges.

Note: The above mentioned charges are only valid until Wateen change them again. If and when Wateen made any changes in their prices: I will update these changes in this page too. Also, these charges are mentioned here for only informational purposes and for the benefits of users who are interested in buying Wateen’s Wireless Broadband Internet Connection. NOTE: Wateen have updated their prices and packages. I have made these changes on this page too. Now you can see that the 15 GB download package have been converted into a unlimited download package. First of all: these new packages are available till 30th of June, 2009 [new packages are still available]. This is what I saw in the email that I got from Wateen. Most probably, Wateen will continue to give/offer these new packages after this deadline. Secondly: the unlimited package may look very attractive but there is a catch.

In the email, I saw that Wateen will only allow a fair use of their unlimited internet download package. Wateen will not allow any abuse in this regard. This package has virtually unlimited download limit. Read more about this topic at the end of this article: Wateen Vs PTCL

I will update the prices for Wateen broadband internet services as soon as I confirm the prices at Wateen official site or via Wateen’s Tariff.

I have not seen any new prices in the advertisement. I think Wateen has just decided to carry on with the previously changed new rates where one unlimited download package was also introduced.

Wateen is just deceiving you by offering low rates. I am a wateen user. They had told us that you have to pay just 2320 at first for the package of 5gb and a speed of 256kbs. This packags demands 499 Rs. per month to recharge.but now they are demanding us to pay above 1000 Rs. Before wateen connection i have read on many bloggs that they charge very high price than agreed after one or two months so and so .But i had ignored writers experience with wateen and now i am feel very regrting because i have not so money to ajust the extra price.

We are now going to gather other infected to complain to PTA so that they stop wateen’s monopoly and save ohers from being trapping into fraud.

AslamoAlikum,

I have installed the Wireless internernet (I think it is call the Wimax as the device is connected on the top of floor). The Wateen agent came to house, install the net at a cost of 800 Rs but every month I have to pay 1200 Rs. I contact several times with agent and Wateen service center but they didnot drop their charges although they are saying in their website that they can change the tarif. I donot know why their srevice for changing the tarif is not working?

I am from okara. I think wateen is f*aud. I went to wateen’s franchise in okara. The incharge told me that we have no outdoor device this time. I again and again asked him he lied to me every time that tomorrow your device will be in okara. At last I contact at the help line of wateen which are written on the brochure. But every time the lines are busy. Every person who is reading my words. Tell me how the helplines are busy for three months of any business group. So Wateen is f*aud and i think they will be run from Pakistan.

This is quite unfortunate thing to hear.

When I was using Wateen, 1+ years back, their support used to work fine. I never had to wait to talk to a support person whenever I had call Wateen Helpline.

But I guess now things have changed and that their support may not be that efficient anymore : )

On the other hand, I have tried to contact PTCL support for few times and have even waited for 20+ minutes on phone [hearing the waiting music : ) ] and no one responded even after 20+ mins.

Looks like both these companies, who are major Internet Service Providers in Pakistan, needs to improve their support system:
