We can now do One-Share trading at KSE from tomorrow: 21 Jul 09

Isn’t this an exciting news? Buyers and sellers can now do trading at KSE on One Share bases. Wait: what exactly does One Share trading means?

One Share trading simply means that we can buy or sell shares of any company in any amount. The minimum amount of shares that we can now sell or buy is One Share.

Previously, we could buy or sell shares in the following amount of volumes:

Table: 1.00

———————————
500 Shares: for companies whose share value is less than Rs. 100.

100 Shares: for a company whose share value is less than Rs. 500 and is greater than Rs. 100.

20 Shares: for a company whose share value is above Rs. 500.

———————————
KSE has changed these rules and investors can now trade in any company on One-Share bases. This new change will be effective from the 21 July, 09. This change will be effective for all companies that are listed under the Ready and Square Up Markets.

However, in the Pre-Open and Off-Hour sessions, the lot size for shares being traded in the Ready and Square Up Markets will remain the same as before [these lot sizes are mentioned in Table 1.00].

Because of the new changes, the Odd Lot Market will no longer operate. I think that make lot of sense as there are no more Odd Lot Orders during the trading sessions so there is no need of an Odd Lot Market.

One Share trading simply terminates the need to record any trading in the Odd Lot Market.

I guess now people with low budget can buy few expensive shares if they want to. I think that this change is very positive. I personally will be doing more trading at KSE because of this change. In just few hours, KSE trading session will open: let’s see how much this change will help buyers/sellers.

  1. NIB Bank may get into the Defaulter’s List at KSE
