What is the Standard Size Allowed for Sitemaps?

Recently, I wrote about the maximum number of URLs or the maximum file size that is allowed by Google for submitted sitemaps. After posting it: I did some more research about this topic and found on [Sitemaps(dot)org] that the values which I wrote in that post are actually the standard size for a sitemap defined by Sitemaps(dot)org.

The values are:

Maximum number of URLs supported in a single sitemap = 50,000
Maximum allowed size of sitemaps = 10 MB [this is the uncompressed file size]

So these are the standard values which are used by all Search Engines.

  1. How many sites can we add in Bing Webmaster Center?
  2. How many Sitemaps can you include in a Single Sitemap Index File?
  3. Maximum Page Size recommended in Bing Guidelines
  4. What is a Sitemap Index File?
  5. Do Backlinks With NoFollow Tags Help A Site’s Ranking?
