Cricket lovers in Pakistan were shocked to see the performance of Pakistani team in the 2nd test match [4th day]. Yesterday, Pakistani team had a very solid chance of winning this test match but everything got changed today.
Pakistan bowled out the Australian team in the first innings at just 127 runs. Then Pakistan openers started off brilliantly and scored 100+ runs before the first wicket was down. Pakistani team was then able to reach the total of 333 runs getting a lead of more than 200 runs.
Then came the Australian team and they started off just like Pak second innings. Aus’s first wicket fell at 105 runs. At one point, Aus were seven down and the lead was of just 40 runs. That was the time when people living in Pak thought that we may finally won a test match against Aus after 15 Years.
The two players who put up a big partnership were Hussey and Siddle. These two players played the main role in reaching the total to 381 runs: giving Pak a total of 176 runs to chase.
When I saw this total set by Australia: I was then quite worried and though that this match is now not going to be an easy win for Pakistan.
Pak openers were again reasonably good: the first wicket fell on 34 runs. After that, wickets for Pakistan fell regularly. Umar Akmal was the highest scorer for Pak team with 49 runs.
Unfortunately, Pak lost the match by 36 runs.
This is a 3 test match series and Aus already have won the first two: which means that Pak has already lost this test series. But we still hope that Pak team will perform better in the next match.
The thing which disappointed many people in Pakistan was the poor fielding performance especially by Kamran Akmal who dropped at least 4 straight forward catches.
Some people also think that the captain of Pak [Mohammad Yousuf] did not took good decisions. For example, setting of field placement was not good in many occasions which gave away quite a few runs.
May be that is true: but as we all know that, Mohammad Yousuf is a new captain for Pak test team. Some time should be given to him in order to learn and settle as a captain in the team.
