How to Change Default Profile in Games for Windows Live

Do you want to change the profile that automatically login when you play/start a game that uses Games for Windows Live?

For some people, this might be a very easy thing to do, but I personally got stuck in this problem.

If someone only has one profile/account in Games for Windows Live, then it will simply get activated when we start a game but what about the people who have three or even more profiles?

My two brothers also play few games so we have three different profiles. I am the one who plays the most games: but whenever I started a game, one of my brothers profile got loaded up. So then I had to press “Home” button and then logout and re-login again. All this wasted quite some time.

At first I thought that the solution will be very simple: which is to change the default profile that loads up at games startup.

So I started a game and pressed Home key. On the right hand side, I can see a “settings” tab. I opened this tab but failed to find the option that I was looking for. Then I looked for any other tab that might have this option: but the other tabs we see in a profile are “Friends”, “Messages”, “Players”, “Private Chat”: none of these tabs had the option which I was looking for.

I then searched on the internet to find the solution and I failed to find anything: not even a hint.

Then I thought that maybe we need to manually change a file [like config etc] that will belong to Games for Windows Live. But that idea too did not work.

Then I stopped looking for a solution for this issue and continued playing games and again started to waste my time in logging out.

But just after few days, I noticed a tab in my profile which I never clicked on. This is the first tab on which we see our name or our profile name. I did not clicked on that tab before, because I thought this is not a tab and is only a heading of our name and few stats.

Anyway, clicking on the first tab in our profile opens up a page with few options. At the right hand side, the last option is:

Enable Auto Sign-In

Disable Auto Sign-In

So all you need to do is: load [log in] the profile which you want to be the default profile: then click on the first tab which is showing the name of the profile and also show a picture/avatar. Then here, you will see an option to either enable or disable auto-login. Enable auto-login and the next time you will start a game, your profile will load up automatically.
