One of the few sites that I visit or use every day is Copyscape. Off course, I do not check my own sites in this tool: the reason why I use this tool everyday is that I participate in different online forums/communities where many questions are related to Website Ranking/SEO.
In these forums I try to help new comers by answering their SEO related questions. This requires the use of some tools on daily bases. One of these tools is Copyscape which is a very good tool for detect duplicate content on the internet.
Unfortunately, for 2-3 days, I am seeing an alert/message on the homepage of CS. This alert/message informs the users that CS is not working due to some reason beyond their control.
If we tried to search a site for duplicate content, CS returns no results.
I have seen CS not returning results in the past too. I saw somewhere that CS use data provided by Google search results to detect duplicate content. Please note that I am not sure if this info is correct or not. This is what I saw in some other website.
Anyway, sometime ago, CS was not working and the forum where I saw the info about CS using results from Google: I also read someone’s comment that may be Google have stopped CS from sending automated queries to their servers.
Anyway, later on, CS started to work again until now.
I think CS is not working for at least three days now. I hope the problem will resolve and that CS will start to work again as it is a good tool for finding online duplicate content.
Update: Today, 8th March, 10: CS has started to work again. That is such a relief : )
