PTCL Broadband Slow and Downtime: 29 April 10

I have been using PTCL broadband for 1+ years now. Overall, it’s a very good internet service provider but just recently, I am seeing lot of downtimes and also, quite often, the internet seems to become slow or completely unusable.

In the past few days, I have been very disappointed and frustrated because multiple times, my internet stopped to work. I think I have restarted my internet device 15+ times. I had to restart the device because internet suddenly would stop to work and the only solution seems to be restarting the device [which only works sometimes].

Even after that, the internet seems to be slow and simply hangs sometimes and then suddenly starts to work again.

Then there are times when few sites work and few do not seem to load up properly.

This reminded me of the time when I was using Wateen and was facing similar issues : ) The only difference was that in Wateen, these issues used to occur more commonly: I guess mainly because of low signal problem that I have in the area where I live.

May be something is wrong with my PC or may be my phone line has some issue?

Yes, this is a possible reason: but this is not the case with me.

I participate in different forums: In Google Forum, a person opened a thread and explained his problem like this:

“When I try to open my sites, they fail to load up: only half page loads and at the bottom left corner, I see Waiting for or connecting to message and my site/pages do not load properly or completely.”

I checked this person’s profile and found that he was from Pakistan. I asked him if he is using PTCL broadband or not: he replied and said Yes.

That is when I realized that this issue is faced by PTCL users all across the country. He lives in Lahore where I live in Abbottabad.

I replied and told him that the issue he is facing is because of his internet service provider and nothing is wrong with his sites.

Now here is another reason why my PC and Phone Line are ok.

My brother is also using a PTCL broadband. There are two phone lines in our home: he is also facing the same issue that I am facing.

Let’s hope this is only temporary issue and that PTCL will soon resolve it:
